We are very pleased to invite you to Pacific Early Childhood Education Research Association (PECERA) Third Conference , which will be held in Shanghai , China on July 23-25, 2002. The PECERA is a new organization dedicated to disseminating and supporting research in early childhood education within the Pacific Area. Purposes - to provide an academic forum in the Pacific region for the development and dissemination of high quality research in early childhood education. - to facilitate cooperation and collaboration among researchers in the Pacific area working in the field . - to encourage the development of links between research and practice in early childhood education . - to raise the visibility and status of research in early childhood education in the Pacific area Conference participants will be coming from many countries and regions within the Pacific area including Australia , China , Japan , Korea , New Zealand , Singapore , Hongkong , Taiwan and others . Theme of the Conference: Early Childhood Education in Cultural Contexts The second PECERA conference held in Christchurch , New Zealand , 2001emphasised that educational research and early childhood pedagogy "growing together" in our cultural contexts.The 2002 conference will further this theme , providing a forum for exchanging the experiences and sharing understanding achieved by scholars in developing culture-appropriate early childhood education .
